How dsgn is run
One person, one platform, several sites
dsgn is a UK design practice run by its principal designer, who also builds and maintains the platform the practice's own sites run on. That platform is leopardessconsulting.co.uk, and it currently carries at least 22 of the practice's own sites, as of September 2026, a floor kept up to date rather than a fixed count. The list is public on that site, so it can be checked.
Designing and maintaining that many sites without repeating the same manual work on each one is what shaped how the practice works day to day. The tooling came first, built to carry the volume, and the client service was built around it afterwards.
Where AI is used
AI drafts mood boards, produces a first set of layout or logo variants, and writes a first pass of copy, quickly and in quantity. That is the right use for it: the parts of a job that are about generating options. A set of ten variants from a brief is a starting point for a conversation.
Where it is not
Deciding which variant actually fits the brief is a judgement call, and AI does not make those. Neither does it decide how a mark should behave across a component library (the set of reusable interface pieces a design system is built from), or what to tell a client when the brief and what the market will actually respond to point in different directions. Those calls are made by a person, and that person is accountable for them in the written scope and quote that go with every job.
The practical effect on what you receive: the speed of AI-assisted drafting without AI-assisted decision making. Faster first drafts, the same person deciding and standing behind the result.
